OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President, Human Resources serves as a member of the senior leadership team and leads the company wide human resources function, developing and communicating strategies to support a capable and energetic work force. The VP also works with executives to advise, coach and guide its leadership regarding culture and people issues in order to foster a high performing and engaged organization. This position also serves as an internal consultant to senior management, supervisors and employees while being a strategist and implementer, developing progressive and scalable programs and practices.
 
To be successful the candidate must have the ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, exercise initiative and judgement, and make decisions within the assigned scope of responsibility. Candidate must be willing to take a roll up your sleeves approach to day-to-day work and be able to manage and mentor Human Resources and Recruiting staffs in all company locations. The position is responsible for all strategic human resource planning, policies, procedures and programs including recruiting, talent management, training & development, compensation, performance management, HRIS systems, legal compliance, employee benefits (including 401(k)), employee relations, communication and employee events.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the company’s human resource function and performance
  • Participate in the development of the company’s plans and programs as a strategic partner but particularly from the perspective of the impact to people
  • Translate the strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans
  • Coordinate the activities, programs and strategic HR plans of other HR teams throughout the company
  • Ensure operational excellence, determine best practices and standardize HR operations to promote organizational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Develop staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the company for positions of responsibility. Identify appropriate and effective external sources for candidates for all levels within the company
  • Ensure that our compensation, employee benefits, and culture are attractive and competitive to attract and retain high-performing employees
  • Continually assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against relevant comparable companies, industries and markets
  • Use workforce analytics and various business metrics to drive strategic decision making as it relates to people and policies
  • Develop HRIS and Payroll capabilities in order to streamline processes and provide critical data for development of an HR strategy
  • Manage the budget and other financial measure of the Human Resources Department
     
     
REQUIREMENTS
  • 15+ years of experience in a senior level Human Resources position in a company that experienced high growth, with a multi-office, multi-state environment
  • Experience in a Healthcare/Call Center environment a definite plus
  • Experience supporting a sales and/or customer service environment is desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development
  • MBA/MA/PHR or SPHR certification strongly preferred
  • Ability to bring immediate credibility to the human resource function through his/her professional qualifications and leadership skills
  • A track record of accountability, success in human resource management, implementing sustained operational improvements and the ability to achieve excellent results through others
  • Experience partnering with executives and other business unit leaders to drive business growth
  • A behavioral work style that is approachable, hands-on, and shows attention to detail
  • Successful track record in talent management, recruiting and retention initiatives
  • Depth of experience in compensation and benefits including strategy, design and implementation. Knowledge and previous work with ACA and sales compensation models
  • Extensive knowledge of employment and labor laws and experience with regulatory agencies (DOL, EEOC, FLSA, ERISA etc.)
  • Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills, as well as organizational skills
  • Commitment to high ethics and confidentiality
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to travel throughout the continental U.S.; up to 25% travel required
  • Location – based in Trumbull, CT at the company’s corporate headquarters
