The Director of Product directs and oversees all aspects of product lifecycle management including market demands, technology trends, and the competitive field. Responsibilities include managing the strategic product roadmap, product development, product launch, and product marketing in order to gain maximum benefit from each product.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Define the business case for new or enhanced products, pricing, and capabilities to ensure the proposed capabilities are aligned with the strategic business goals
  • Analyze the competitive landscape and client requests for market needs that current products and capabilities do not meet, define user personas, write product requirements
  • Develop and implement new products utilizing logical resources
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects, prepare records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and business leadership conferences, in order to inform stakeholders of current status of each project
  • Work with marketing to conduct technology assessments and ensure that technical designs are aligned with industry trends and evolving market needs
  • General product management - define market requirements, product roadmaps, and package the features into product releases for the assigned product capabilities use scenario, and create/maintain prioritized product backlogs
  • Monitor product releases to ensure high quality on-time delivery, and coordinate launch activities to drive commercial success
  • Build strong working relationships with clients to determine future product direction and assist in the successful design and launch of new capabilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on products and processes within the scope of responsibilities
  • Oversee key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis
Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; major or significant coursework in at least one of the following strongly preferred: mathematics, business, analytical marketing, information systems, programming/databases, statistics/statistical modeling, finance, economics, or physics
  • 10 years of healthcare, IT business analytics experience, product management/product development in Medicare insurance arena
  • 5+ years of strong, demonstrated ability to lead major initiatives to a successful result
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to effectively deal with moderate levels of ambiguity, effectively cope with change, shift gears comfortably, decide and act without having the total picture, comfortably handle risk and uncertainty
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective formal presentation skills in a variety of settings
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment in a positive and supportive manner
  • Strong outcome-oriented analytical abilities, organization and project/process management skills
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, planning and decision-making skills. Accurately scope out projects, set objectives and goals, develop schedules and resource assignments, measure performance against goals, and evaluate results
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation
  •  Ability to manage projects simultaneously and achieve goals; Uses resources effectively and efficiently, with excellent follow through, attention to detail, and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals at all levels of the organization
